Make History Contest: Choosing a Project
We left off on Friday talking about how you should ALL enter the Make History Contest for your chance to win one of three of our $899.00 packages (your choice of a Heritage Package or Legacy Package). We talked about the two types of packages and different examples of how they can be used as well as the difference between them. Today, we are going to talk about how to choose a project, specifically for the purpose of taking advantage of the Make History Contest.
First off, here is a look at what is involved in the creation of the final book for each of the package types:
Chances are if you are here, it is because you have an interest in history of some sort. PROBABLY local or family history (if I’m wrong you can go ahead and correct me!) So, why not translate that into a project for this contest. Whether you want to preserve your stories, or someone else’s, or find out about something that you don’t have time to research yourself, we can help. We can organize records and documents you already have into keepsake books which can be ordered in bulk and distributed or catalogued with a historical society or genealogical society. We can interview, digitally preserve and remaster photographs, documents and keepsakes.
Try looking to things you enjoy for inspiration: There are a myriad of fun television shows about this topic recently, PBS’ History Detectives poses many great examples, or the recently re-televised episodes of WDYTYA?. Fall back on what you already love. That’s the best advice I can offer!
If, in the end, you can’t think of any one thing, but you want to enter still, send me an e-mail or give us a call! I would be happy to help you come up with something! We can grab a cup of coffee and talk about the possibilities. If you have the slightest interest or curiosity, there is no better time to think about what you might like to preserve or discover than right now when it is 100% no strings attached free!
All you have to do to submit your entry is send an e-mail to contest@thehistorium.com with some basic contact information and the idea you have for the project you’d like to do!
