Harvest Time
Well with Halloween and Thanksgiving behind us it may be a little past harvest. I love the fall but I’m begrudgingly coming to terms with the fact that it’s over. I love coming inside from the cold, finally feeling justified to light fires indoors, I love the flavors, and the layers of warm clothing. I’m quite the fall fanatic, to be frank.
Well, needless to say, day and night the aroma of cinnamon, chocolate and apples are pouring from our house. (Due in part to me raiding the Febreeze section at the local department store — plug-ins, sprays, candles, incense– you name it I bought it. But, also) Because I cannot stop baking and canning! Making all of our beautiful fall fruits and veggies last through the winter is one of my favorite things about the months. So I thought I’d welcome you all to my wreck of a kitchen: enjoy!
I’m canning our pumpkins and apples and cranberries. Delicious, and beautiful. I wish the pictures had turned out better!
Chopped pumpkin, above. Lovely red jars of cranberry-apple sauce, below. Couldn’t wait to crack one open so I already did!
