Heritage Packages

What if I don’t know what topic I’d like to cover?

A: That’s no problem at all! We can talk with you during your free consultation about different possibilities. If you have any family history information or there is anything else you are considering as a topic, bring it along! Some ideas for topics include: an ancestor, a family story, a house or business, an heirloom, et cetera.

What is the final product?

A: See our Heritage Packages & Prices page for more information. Our basic packages include a beautiful book, with full color pages, a library binding and hard cover. We can include in that a family tree, if it is pertinent to your project. Our larger packages include a DVD with a digital copy of documents, photographs, newspaper clippings and so on that we come across during our research. We also offer beautiful hand bound editions with archival quality recycled paper and customizable color options. We’re also open to any custom requests! Simply ask us!

What if you can’t find anything?

A: Rarely, is a family story unsubstantiated by some kind of evidence, but it does happen. It doesn’t mean that the person or event never happened, but for whatever reason, it is possible that the documentation has been destroyed or lost. At the time of your consultation we’ll discuss this possibility, if you decide to move forward you will make a small deposit of $50.00, and we will commence with a preliminary research phase at which time we will determine the likelihood of success. In certain, rare, cases it may be impossible for us to research the project, at that time you will be notified, your deposit will be refunded and you will not be responsible for any additional costs or fees.

What are the interviews like?

A: We will determine the interview questions on a case by case basis, in order to determine the specific goal or direction of the piece based on the Client’s wishes. It is vital to have a finished product that is completely personal and entirely unique. Our interviewers will set up an appointment to meet with you wherever you would be most comfortable, and at a time that meets your requirements. Making you comfortable and the experience enjoyable is a top priority to us. We want your true self to shine through on the pages.

What if I want the Book to be a surprise?

A: That’s fantastic! Our books make wonderful gifts, we can either give you a gift certificate to use at a later date, or if you’d like to present the lucky recipient with a copy of their gift, we can interview people close to them and compile a lovely biography.

What if I don’t have anything interesting to say?

A: We don’t believe it is possible to lead a life without having something to write about it. Our interviewers and researchers can help you come up with content for your book by leading you through questions that will help get an authentic feeling about your story. It doesn’t have to be a singular event (although it could be) it could just be a description of your day to day life growing up, imagine how fascinating your great-great grandchildren could find that in the future.

Do I have to pay for everything at once?

A: No, we will discuss our payment policies with you during your consultation, but generally speaking payment is collected in 1/3s and corresponds with a check point where we let you know about the progress on your project as well as verifying details.

Can you travel?

A: Yes, we are willing to travel, but we do have fees for travel and lodging and may be subject to additional fees depending on the extent and time involved in the work. Travelling for research or interviews can give incredible depth and add interest to your final product. Many people struggle with finding the time to complete such research on their own, if this is of interest to you, we can discuss putting together a custom package that would accommodate all of the information we gather once we have gathered it.
